PREPRESS · COLOUR · WORKFLOW
Practical expertise in colour management, prepress workflows and print-production systems — focused on repeatable quality, efficient output and fewer surprises on press.
WHAT I DO
I work across the production chain — from files and RIP settings through calibration, profiling, process control and troubleshooting — to help print environments run more consistently.
Calibration, linearisation, ICC profiling, measurement strategy and practical conformance checks for production environments.
Workflow design and support for PDF processing, RIPs, automation, imposition and output systems.
Hands-on understanding of offset, digital and wide-format environments, with emphasis on repeatability and production reality.
A PRACTICAL APPROACH
Good colour management is not just about creating an ICC profile. It is about controlling the whole production condition so the result remains stable after the profiling work is finished.
Measure
Establish what the device is actually doing.
Diagnose
Separate file, RIP, media, ink and device issues.
Optimise
Build the right correction, calibration or workflow.
Verify
Confirm the result with objective measurements.
THE GOAL
“A workflow should make the correct result easier to achieve — not harder.”
ABOUT
I’m Heinz Widmer, a prepress and colour-management professional based in Australia. My work sits where printing, colour science and production technology meet.
I enjoy solving the problems that are difficult to diagnose from a manual alone: inconsistent colour, unexpected RIP behaviour, workflow bottlenecks and the gaps between what a system should do and what happens in production.
